What We Are All About

Trip Summary:

Our team will do construction and renovation projects for Project Jonas, a children's home ministry founded by Good News Church in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. Jonas Project's mission is to rescue children who are orphaned, abandoned, or homeless. Due to poverty and parental drug addiction, the abandonment of children is a major social problem in Venezuela and other countries in central and South America. Our team will work with the staff and volunteers of Jonas Project to impact the children influenced by this ministry. Our mission begins Friday July 8th and ends Friday July 15th.

There Is No Place Like Home!

We are back, safe and sound . Our emotions are all over the place . It is a mixture of being so happy to be back home with our family & friends, being exhausted from our experiences and travels, missing the boys and our hosts in Venezuela, and wishing we could have stayed longer and done more . It is almost like being a little shell shocked . So much of the week continues to spin through my head and hopefully I will be able to recap our experience in detail now that we are back . I am slowly catching up on my sleep and have normal internet access so I will get to work on telling our story . I do have about 4000 pictures to organize and go through to pick the best ones to tell our story, so continue to be a little patient with me por favor . Just know that we all gained so much from this amazing experience and feel blessed to have been able to help our new friends in Venezuela through all of your prayers and support . MUCHAS GRACIAS!

Kim Gardner- Assistant Leader- Kim is from Detroit, but after 20 years, calls Atlanta home. Kim is a graduate of UGA- "Go DAWGS". She is our "go to girl ", our "get it done girl", or our"tell me what they are saying girl". Kim is fluent in Spanish and using this God given gift to aid all of us English speaking folk on this mission is essential to our team. Language is her way of giving back and so very needed. Kim was part of the Dominican Republic mission trip and attends Buckhead Church.

Nathaniel Giesman- Nate Dogg is originally from Alabama and has been attending Buckhead Church since 2004. His degree in International Business from Auburn will be put to good use since he will be our International Team Accountant. Nate has learned that by replenishing/helping/serving others, you are yourself replenished. Nate knows, because he was on the previous trip to the Dominican, that he is going to get so much more out of this experience than he could ever put into it. Nate is outgoing and a hard worker.

Mindy Castellanos- Mindy is originally from San Diego but made Atlanta her home four years ago with her two beautiful daughters. Mindy worked in full-time children's ministry for five years but has moved to different ventures and now owns a personal training and BootCamp studio. She is also a local actor in Atlanta. Mindy attends Buckhead church and volunteers as a Bible story teller in Upstreet. She is excited to be a part of this specific mission trip. She believes that God has blessed her family beyond measure and is completely thrilled to be contributing to the Jonas Project.
